Inverurie, the defending champions, put in an assured performance on a pitch that had stood up resiliently to three games across three days in fairly constant rainfall. Marr was first to threaten with a close range header, with Keith’s Watt & Berton firing wide in two raids shortly after. Kyle Gordon had an effort clear the bar with the returning Bolton shooting wide for the visitors. Andy Mitchell was showing up well, covering the yards with his long stride & set up a Cooper volley that whistled wide. Fraser Bruce was exhibiting some traditional Scottish wing play on the Foxlane Terrace side of the park, his tremendous touch & toolbox of tricks warming up a November Monday night in the Aberdeenshire capital. A Bolton free kick was held by the muddied Cook, with Locos going ahead next through a COWIE finish from a pinpoint Cooper corner. Thirty three minutes gone. Gordon headed over as Locos stroked the ball around nicely, making light of heavy conditions. HT 1-0. Kyle Gordon rasped a shot that the diving Dey held with distinction. Marr shot wide & sub Grimbley fired over but it was 2-0 on fifty eight minutes. Another dangerous Mitchell surge saw him tripped & GORDON blootered the penalty low & true into the onion bag. Three minutes later & 3-0, Gordon shooting for goal, Dey repelling but GRIMBLEY calmly firing the rebound low into the bottom left corner. Sixty five minutes & 4-0. Andy WATT rising like Gordon McQueen at Wembley & heading home another super corner kick. The Locos Coaches will have been delighted to see dead balls utilised & introduced into the danger zone with pace, zip & accuracy. Dey was keeping the score down & next was at full extension to deny Cooper, then he dived at Gordon’s feet before watching a Hinks effort clear his bar. Sub Walker shot over on the half volley & fellow sub McKenzie had an effort saved by the never say die Dey. Bolton plucked the ball out of the sky with soft feet but shot inches wide. Keith sub Byars attempted a long range bicycle kick that Cook carefully watched over the bar. McAllister shot wide, the ball pinging back off the scoreboard that read at FT Locos 4 Keith 0.
