Inverurie Locos U20s tonight took another major stride towards GPH Aberdeenshire League glory with a 5-0 win away at Deveronvale. Temperatures were just above freezing but this didn’t stop a good number travelling through from the Garioch. Stewart was first to threaten for Vale, driving a volley wide then a shot along the deck just wide. Youngson then had a free kick charged down, with Dawson unlucky not to flick the ball home. Quantrill had an effort deflected behind with Bolton then shooting into the arms of Sutherland. Thirteen minutes & one-nil. Craig Gill was to go on & have a brilliant seventy eight minutes on the field for Inverurie & sent Youngson clear out wide, Andy killed the ball & swept it across for Josh BOLTON to crack home with his right peg. Two-nil two minutes later. Campbell MARR letting rip from twenty two yards low down to the keeper’s right. Locos were bossing affairs on a cold Banff night with Bolton, Youngson & Quantrill all having further attempts. HT 2-0 Locos. Bolton shot for goal from two yards inside his half as the second period commenced. Brailsford went close for Vale with a hooked effort just wide, a rare moment of relief for the home Reds. Andy Watt was again all poise & class & showed fast feet wide left before drilling the ball off the base of the post, Gill not quite able to net the rebound. McAllister was now on for the injured Dawson & forced the overworked Sutherland into another stop. The keeper was struggling to get purchase on his clearances, which resulted on further Locos waves of attacks. Three-nil on sixty five minutes, YOUNGSON spun past two opponents before smashing a left footed shot low into the corner. Stewart was yellowed & warned for Vale, with the referee perhaps being a tad whistle happy. A Youngson cross just eluded the stretching Bolton & a McAllister touch, turn & shot was wide but 4-0 arrived with twelve minutes to go. A very tired Banff backline were simply outpaced by the galloping BOLTON who drew the keeper & slipped the ball below him & into the middle of the onion bag. Jay Halliday was introduced for Craig Gill & Adam Smith on for Greg Cowie, & the newly introduced youngsters both had efforts repelled. Bolton & McAllister both had shots beaten away by Sutherland, who whilst toiling with his kicking & anything airborne, was doing well on the shot stopping front. 5-0 came late on with HALLIDAY neatly heading in at the back stick. Keeper Burns had a cameo between the sticks replacing Cook.
